Vision : “Functional Rehabilitations and Aesthetic Smiles”

Mission : The department focuses on imparting sound knowledge in the field of Prosthodontics with implementation of different modes of teaching, and evaluates the clinical efficiency of students to provide quality treatment to patients.

Introduction:

The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge at SVSIDS was established in 2003 and postgraduate training started in 2009. Department of prosthodontics educates the undergraduate students to be competent in basic treatment procedures and be part of management of patients who require comprehensive care.

The post graduate trainees carryout conventional as well as complex prosthodontic cases with extensive clinical and laboratory phases of prosthodontics training in the areas of fixed and removable partial dentures, complete dentures, maxillofacial prosthetics and implant prosthodontics. Along with this, postgraduate students are also involved invarious clinical and laboratory research studies under the supervision of faculty.

  • Department organizes a number of Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programs and workshops to keep upto date with the recent advances in the field.
  • Department conducts regular hands-on programs for upgrading the skills and practices.
  • Free denture camps organised by the department expose the students to a variety of patients and clinical material.
  • Visits to other institutes and laboratories to facilitate insight into recent trends and practices.
  • A separate casting and ceramic lab with the latest equipment and materials, capable of functioning as a commercial dental laboratory.
  • Recent materials and latest equipment like RVG, Pressable ceramics, Manual Milling Unit, CAD-CAM unit, Intraoral Scanner, Model Scanner, 3D Printer etc., have added a new dimension in treatment planning and execution.

 Department Layout

Department of Prosthodontics and Implantology is located in the ground floor with separate Postgraduate, Undergraduate and Implantology clinics along with Postgraduate laboratory, Undergraduate laboratory, Central laboratory,Department stores,Faculty and Postgraduate student’s rooms andSeminar Hall. Third floor of college building has aPre-clinical Prosthodontics lab, Pre-clinical Phantom lab for both undergraduate and Postgraduate students.
